Tim Burgess has shared details of a new merch market coming to Manchester, offering bands the chance to sell their own merchandise for free and take 100% of the income.

The Charlatans frontman has frequently spoken out and campaigned against venues which take an unfair cut of band merch sales. As well as providing stalls for bands to sell their goods, the Manchester Merch Market will also feature live sets, DJs, exclusive giveaways and panel discussions.

Happening on Sun 25 May, events and stalls will be spread across Gorilla, O2 Ritz and Dog Bowl. As well as artists selling their merch, the market will have manufactures who make everything from hoodies to badges and actual vinyl records.

Speaking about the event, Burgess explained:“The Merch Market is a chance for bands and solo artists to dig out those forgotten gems from storage, whip up some exclusive new designs, and connect directly with their fans,” Burgess said.

“There’s no stall fee, no commission, just a celebration of the creativity that makes our music scene so special.”

More details and lineup information will be shared closer to the time, though Tim has promised a ‘whole host of big names and surprises’. Bands who would like to be involved are encouraged to submit their information here.
