A brand-new neighbourhood cafe has opened its doors in Altrincham.

à bloc can be found directly opposite Stamford Park, conveniently between Altrincham Centre and Hale, serving brunch, coffee, fresh bakes, craft beer, cocktails and more.

The new venue comes from the same team behind the immensely popular Stutter & Twitch, the record shop, coffee caravan and portable bar that has proved a hit both in Altrincham and more recently in Sale.

The building’s history as both a cycle repair shop and cycle cafe has inspired the name, à bloc, which refers to a rider going flat out. Hale Cycleworks is still operational below the cafe, too.

Guests can expect homemade doughnuts, premium takes on brunch staples, breakfast brioche rolls, and comprehensive lunch offerings as well as occasional evening dining events hosted by guest chefs.

The kitchen is headed up by former Pico’s (Altrincham Market) supervisor Niamh Molloy. Local suppliers will be prioritised, with coffee coming from long-time partners Blossom Coffee Roastery, and bread by Most Bakery just down the road.

Local collaborations won’t end there, Salford-based fabricators M3 Industires completed much of the design, plants have been provided by Green & Grounded, custom ceramics by Moss Studio Store and uniforms supplied by Manchester label, Uskees.

Along with the day-to-day, there will be a programme of workshops and activities to get involved with, including wreath making with Green and Grounded and Christmas wine tasting with Reserve.
