UNITOM, a brand new visual arts-orientated bookshop and print gallery has opened its doors in the Northern Quarter.

The new Stevenson Square spot houses an eclectic mix of publications focusing on contemporary art, design, fashion, photography, and counterculture, alongside an extensive range of independent magazines and small press titles, all sourced from a variety of artists and publishers from around the globe.

Household publishing names like Taschen and Phaidon will be on offer, as will more obscure imports like Brand Balance magazine from Korea. Naturally, there’ll also be a healthy helping of locally sourced self-published art zines.

The shelves will also feature exclusive prints and artist editions, including works by Mateus Bailon, Snik, Conor Harrington, Ben Levy and Ian H. Williams. Launches and book signings will also become a regular occurrence for the welcome new addition.

Along with all of that, a collection of curated lifestyle items will be available. Think unique drops like Swiss accessories from Freitag, luxury umbrellas from London Undercover, flip clocks by TWEMCO and even one-of-a-kind skateboards by Brussels-based The Skateroom.

Former manager of Magma Manchester, Tim Bell, has been drafted in to manage the story—so it’s safe to assume things will be in very safe hands.
