A gorgeous new Japanese dining spot has opened its doors along Manchester’s First Street.

Hakkapo takes inspiration from Japanese Izakaya bars — a type of informal, cosy establishment where people eat, drink and socialise after a long day at work.

The light, airy dining room aims to become ‘a celebration of Japanese culture and the heritage of its founders.’ Two of Hakkapo’s founding trio hail from the Hakka region, while the third’s roots lie in Poland, hence the venue’s name.

Dishes span an array of delicious Japanese staples, ranging from bao, donburi and ramen, to a selection of smaller plates like tempura red prawn, green miso yakitori and tonkatsu pork cutlet.

For drinks, there’s a substantial selection of Sake to choose from, as well as highballs, wines, beers and Japanese soft drinks.

Hakkapo is open now, you can book your table using the button below.
