Manchester’s own Untold Orchestra is hosting a huge celebration of beloved musical Queer icons from the last 50 years.

From Chaka Khan, Prince, Madonna and Aretha Franklin to Kylie, Janelle Monae, Lizzo and LIL NAZ X—all the biggest hits synonymous with Queer culture will receive the outfit’s wildly unique, modern orchestral treatment.

Arriving at Contact Theatre on Sat 19 Feb, the show is one of the many spectacular highlights from the returning Queer Contact festival which gets underway this weekend with its most ambitious programme to date.


The Untold Orchestra is a Manchester-based collaborative orchestra aiming to redefine the genre for the 21st century, seeking to unite individuals and communities through innovative, socially-focused performance and ensure all forms of art are accessible to everyone.

For this show, the group will explore some of the most renowned albums of all time, offering audiences a deeper insight into not only the incredible music these legendary artists produced but the significant influence they had—and are still having—on both cultural and social history too.
