This Saturday, Mexicali marks its opening in Monton by throwing a huge party in support of homelessness charity Emmaus Salford.

Inspired by the Las Posadas Christmas festival, Mexicali will be giving out free tacos to anyone who makes a donation of any size to the charity.

There will also be a Las Posadas parade complete with mariachi and traditional Mexican carols passing along Monton High Street, before looping round back to the new restaurant for live music and the Las Posada piñata.

Announcing the plans on Instagram, the team wrote: “I know it’s a tough time of the year for a lot of people, so we aren’t setting any prices, just a donation whatever you can spare would be greatly appreciated and you can be some of the first to try our tacos.

“You’ll still be able to purchase drinks/other items on the night, with the bar being open until midnight!”

Mexicali’s Las Posadas celebrations will be running from 5pm – 9pm. If you can’t make it down but would still like to make a donation, you can do so here.
