A new exhibition celebrates knick-knacks and bric-a-brac at the Great Northern

A colourful new exhibition at the Great Northern Warehouse celebrates a love for collecting quirky knick-knacks and vintage ornaments gathered over years of travel and treasure hunting.

Ornament Art forms part of Watch This Space, a collaborative project between the Great Northern and Dez Rez Projects. The collection, which has been curated by Manchester-based artists Jo and David Short, is the latest free exhibition to take over the window of 285 Deansgate and will be on display until Mon 17 Mar.

Their collection, now a carefully curated museum of glassware, ceramics, and sculptures, inspired them to create a range of wall art prints and greeting cards designed to ‘bring whimsy and charm into any home.’ With David’s expertise as an advertising photographer, Ornament Art’s pieces reflect their passion for storytelling and the art of visual playfulness.

Dez Rez Projects, in partnership with Great Northern Warehouse, has been supporting independent creatives since 2022. Their 24/7 street-level exhibition space continues to provide a platform for local artists and makers.
