As Stockport’s food and drink scene seemingly goes from strength to strength, an exciting new opening, described as a ‘hi-fi listening bar and coffee shop’, has joined its ranks.

Ōdiobā has opened within Stockport’s famous Underbanks and is the new concept from the team behind NAM, which sadly recently closed its doors in Ancoats.

A coffee house by day and Audiophile Hi-Fi bar by evening, Ōdiobā is now home to NAM’s famous sound system, which will form an integral part of the venue’s offering.

Spread over three floors, the team will be serving delicious Stockport Worker Bee artisan coffees in the earlier hours, before switching to a refined cocktail menu later on. A selection of craft beers from local favourites Shindigger will also be available, alongside impressive low and no-alcohol options.

Each weekend, the Nam and Friends programme sees a rotation of disc jockeys each Friday and Saturday to take over the sound system, spinning jazz, funk, soul, house and everything in between.

The likes of Ad Hoc Records, Swales, Josh and Toby previously of Melodic Distraction, Rev. Austin Sherman, Be With Records, Joy Social, Andrea Trout and Adam Aitch have already graced the decks, with Yadava, All Kinds of Joy, Black Bees Soul Club Presents, Ruf Dug, Emma Plant Shop and much more confirmed in the coming weeks. You can see what they’ve got lined up here.

Founders Nam Tran & Lauren Lane said on the opening: “We’re absolutely buzzed to be here and to share the street with some incredible independent neighbours. We’re hoping those who have shared the journey with us so far will continue to do so down on the cobbles. For now we’re offering coffee and tea in the daytime, before dimming the lights for booze and beats in the evening.

“We’ve got some exciting plans for the space too, we want to channel our passion for film into hosting regular cinema nights upstairs. Spotlighting some of our favourite indie films, from old Hong Kong and Japanese cinema to music documentaries, a whole variety really! So keep your eyes peeled for that too.”

Ōdiobā is open 10am – 12 am Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday, and 10am – 2am on Friday and Saturday.
