A brand new bar and restaurant combining seafood and veggie small plates with an innovative cocktail list arrives at Deansgate Square for a limited time in March.
PESKY is the brainchild of food science and nutrition masters graduate Zaide O’Rourke, who has combined his expertise with a passion for great food and drink to shape the offering.
Zaide found inspiration for the venue after living in Sweden, where simple seafood dishes were part of everyday life. Building from that, PESKY aims to make the delicacy more accessible to the masses.
The new spot will offer a menu of nibbles and small plates (ranging between £4-£10 each) with an equal balance between ‘Seafood’ and ‘Land food’ dishes. Oysters will be a speciality, served with pickled rhubarb and herb oil, or as ‘Drunken Oysters’ with recommended shot pairings.
Seafood small plates will include ‘better than a chippy’ Panko Cod Cheeks with Tartare sauce, a no fuss Hake dish served with Chimichurri, and King Prawn Pancakes with Okonomiyaki and Bonito. The selection of land food dishes are all vegetarian and mostly plant-based, as Zaide is keen for PESKY’s menu to balance creativity with sustainability. Expect plates like Corn Ribs, Shaved Fennel and Grapefruit Salad, and Grilled Aubergine and Labneh with Pomegranate Molasses.
A former Alchemist bartender, Zaide has put just as much consideration into the drinks side of things. Forward-thinking tipples include the intriguing Seaweed Martini, Grapefruit Negorini and a Whiskey Sour with lychee and black cardamom.
PESKY will open its doors from Wed 2 Mar – Sun 27 Mar, just opposite the General Store on Deansgate Square. Bookings can be made by dropping them a message on Instagram.
