Having recently celebrated its first birthday, West Didsbury’s The Violet Hour has no intention of slowing down now. Following on its wildly successful Spirits Evenings, this time its team have set their sights on the east in search of sake. Drinks expert Alex Johnson – known from his work at Eaux de Vie spirits – has recently returned from Japan himself, so will be providing insight and local knowledge, presenting six beverages (both sake and whisky) from across the country over the course of the evening, pointing out the subtleties in their flavours and explaining some of the heritage behind them. Each drink will be accompanied by a specially commissioned dish from Manchester’s new favourite Japanese restaurant, Umezushi, and a cocktail is provided upon arrival.
