Amnesty International has a history of collaborating with artists of all mediums, using their work to shed light on human rights abuses the world over. This latest endeavour brings together folk and country music with poetry to provide an evening of stimulating, relevant performance. On the bill are beloved locals The Lonesome and Penniless Cowboys, bringing with them their own brand of Salfordian cattle-driving music, simple-but-soulful folk from Carwyn Ellis and a solo set from The Magic Number’s Michele Stodart. The poetry side of the evening comes courtesy of ‘heathen anarchist’ and multi-award winning slam poet Kieran King. All profits from the night go to Amnesty International and Musicians Without Borders.
