A multi-lingual, hip shaking journey in rhythm descends on Band On The Wall on Tuesday evening courtesy of the African Salsa Orchestra. The brainchild of bandleader Michel Pinheiro (a protege of legendary Ivory Coast guitarist Mamadou Doumbia), band members hail from Benin, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Congo and France. Combining West African Manding rhythms with gospel, RnB, reggae and salsa, you’ll hear songs sung in French, English, Spanish, Yoruba, Fon and Dioula. Before the gig itself, all ticket holders will have the opportunity to take part in a workshop with the band, exploring the rhythms and harmonies of salsa.
