Parklife weekend has established itself as a key point in the Manchester music calendar, and with it comes a series of fringe events and afterparties at venues across the city. My top pick of these this weekend has to be Content at South with Ghosting Season and Max Cooper. Manchester-based Ghosting Season blend cold, purely digital compositions with organic layers incorporating more natural found audio and analogue recording to produce musically complex pieces that feel appropriate to both home hi-fi listening and the dancefloor. Their recent show at Soup Kitchen was sadly cancelled, so jump on this – Ghosting Season are arguably the finest contemporary example of considered, skillful electronic composition and production, with the flexibility of producing quality ambient and beat-driven works.
