The launch of the new Alchemist bar in the city centre is set to bring cocktail wizardry to New York Street. We can’t wait to get stuck into trademark cocktails like the pineapple-meringue-topped French Martini (£6.50 with raspberry dust) and the smokey Old Fashioned (£7.50) made with Woodford Reserve bourbon, a test-tube kit and a smoke-gun. Situated on the corner of Moseley and New York Street just off Piccadilly Gardens, a gold-embossed interior of this sister venue to the Spinningfield’s outlet sets the mood for fine wines, shaken drinks and innovation. Food includes nachos (£3.50) to mixed olives, gourmet fish and chips (£9.95) and spiced lamb tagine (£10.25). Expect awards to follow for Living Venture’s sun-kissed offspring.
