Ready to get banged up? You better be – because bookings are now open for Manchester’s first immersive, prison-themed cocktail bar and speak-easy which opens its doors on Friday 16 July.

Located in the heart of Spinningfields, Alcotraz: Cell Block Three Four promises a one-of-a-kind cocktail experience where visitors – or ‘inmates’ as they’re referred to here – are tasked with donning orange prison jumpsuits, finding the boozy contraband hidden throughout their cell and carefully smuggling it past the prison’s eagle-eyed wardens and into the hands of some long-serving lifers – who’ll then mix their contraband into some delicious cocktails.

Billed as the ‘bar behind bars’, this immersive new space aims to combine world-class mixology with a splash of the theatrical, allowing guests to become part of the story and interact with its in-character players. Once checked in, ‘inmates’ will encounter a cast of actors during their stint in the clink – with the venue housing ten individual cells and enough space to hold 50 pint-hungry prisoners. With private hires catering for up to 100 people, this unusual venue is the perfect choice for couples and larger groups looking for an alternative night out.

Lower priced seats will get you access to the Prison Commissary area with your own private mixologist at your very own bar, while the Prison Canteen Area offers exclusive cocktails and food options – or prison ‘rations’. Visitors will even get the chance to pen their own criminal record before they visit, all before receiving secret instructions from bootleggers on how to successfully smuggle their liquor into Alcotraz.
