One of Manchester’s leading independent art galleries, Bureau, has moved to a spacious new spot in Spinningfields. The grand re-opening sees a solo exhibition of work by Clare Kenny displayed in the sprawling, glass-clad space. Kenny works with a variety of materials such as found objects and building materials yet her work almost always originates in photography. Referencing and almost interrupting the photographic process she draws attention to the image and material of the photograph as well as the space around it – the edges of the frame, for example – and to the viewer as part of the artwork. Often installed together with found and formed objects,  these sculptural forms are typically created from the remnants and ephemera of photographic and studio practices, such as glass from frames and plastic sheeting first used as protection during spraying. Together they form multi layered installations. In her photographic work, images are printed on paper or canvas and this show, entitled Inside Edge Outside Space includes new work in this vein, as well as sculptural forms.
