Amani is an arts and heritage organisation that promotes African culture and hosts regular showcases at Band on the Wall, and this is the collective’s first festival. The all-day event takes over Sacred Trinity Church in Salford (that’s the big one off the main road in Blackfriars) in July. Local bands will be performing music from and inspired by Cameroon, Sierra Leone, and South Africa and other African countries. Musicians will also be hosting workshops, covering the likes of traditional drumming and group singing. In addition there will be face painting and storytelling, stalls with food and authentic African produce.
