US singer-songwriter Hayes Carll brings his folky ballads and wistful wordplay to Manchester this summer. The Texan troubadour fuses roots-orientated folk with typical Americana songwriting and humour, and is looking ahead to the release of sixth album What It Is, hitting the shelves on 15 Feb. Carll is supporting the new release with an extensive Transatlantic tour, dropping into the Deaf Institute on 15 May. In a relatively short career stretching over 15 years, Carll has garnered a long list of accomplishments. Quickly voted Best New Act by the Houston Press following his 2002 debut album, he has also taken home Song Of The Year by the Americana Music Association for ‘She Left Me For Jesus’. His critically acclaimed 2016 album Lovers And Leavers took home several titles at the Austin Music Awards, and was his fourth consecutive record to reach the number 1 spot on the Americana Airplay chart. The same year saw Lee Ann Womack’s cover of his track ‘Chances Are’ Grammy-nominated for Best Country Song. Don’t miss the chance to catch this master songsmith on a rare stop in the UK.
