Amir Abdullah is one of the planet’s most respected diggers, the type of expert that everyone from Dr Dre to Pete Rock has consulted about rare tunes on vinyl. Half of the legendary ‘Kon & Amir’, they’re perhaps most known to the masses for their On Track and Off Track mix and compilation series which shower attention on otherwise unknown funk, soul and disco jewels. Amir was also head of distribution at staple US record shop and label Fat Beats plus label manager for the esteemed Wax Poetics, so sort of knows his stuff. With great knowledge comes great DJ sets, and the combined forces of No Fakin’, So Flute and KAT Records are bringing Amir to Manchester’s 2022NQ on Saturday after a ten year hiatus from the city. Support comes from DJs of those families, joining the dots between jazz, soul, hip hop, disco and house.
