It’s hard to know just what Arnold Schwarzenegger would have to do to get people to hate him. With a dodgy track record relating to the death penalty, and for that matter, women, he’s exactly the kind of cultural kryptonite you’d expect to repel the crowds that usually flock to Islington Mill’s bohemian bosom. But then, a distinctive film career spanning nearly 40 years has built up a lot of goodwill. This is why, on September 12th, the Mill’s Pot Luck Film team are hosting an Arnie sleepover. A full night of back-to-back outings for the Creatine Prince of the one-liner. Already announced for the bill are the following cinematic gems: Predator, The Running Man, Total Recall and the good Terminators. One additional – fans’ choice – screening is also yet to be announced. So what better way to spend the night than soaking in the oeuvre of a man critic Clive James once called a ‘brown condom stuffed with walnuts’, and in the fine company of your fellow Arniphiles. See you at the party, Richter?
