Just as boxers are looking to put their opponents down on the canvas, so do the artists taking part in the newest in spectator sports: live competitive painting. Art Battle takes some of the bravest artists working across the UK today and pits them against each other, tasking them with creating a masterpiece. The audience of revellers will play their part as judges, deciding which artist should progress to the final. From the minds that brought us last year’s inaugural Greater Manchester Film Festival, this battle royale will later turn into a silent auction with proceeds being split between local charity The Mustard Tree and the artists themselves. DJ Peter G will be laying down a soundtrack that we really hope contains some Survivor, as you grab a beer and watch the world’s most civilised fight. Check out the Art Battle Facebook page for details of the artists participating – including Lisa Rose, whose work is pictured left.
