Paper Gallery is an artist-led gallery which represents a range of established and emerging artists whose work (naturally enough) is on paper. A new exhibition, Dividing Rules: The Line Between, which begins in early April, throws the floor open to ten artists whose works explore the themes of obsession, time, certainty, and chance. The idiosyncratic group use both geometry and spatial distortion to push the creative boundaries. Vincent James pays homage to cartoons by displacing their characters from their animated homes. Plant breeder and butterfly catcher Georgie Hopton uses found organic matter in her work. Let’s hope it’s not manure. Using the flat motif of wallpaper extracts, Bella Easton creates immersive, illusory-lit spaces. Paper opened in August 2012, and since then has participated several editions of Manchester Contemporary, and many other art events throughout Europe.
