How well do you know your ABCs? Ride Your Pony brings together an international group of multidisciplinary artists for a weekend-long residency at Islington Mill. Twenty six artists, to be precise, each of whom will show work that uses a single letter of the alphabet as inspiration. The show will feature pieces from a hugely varied list of creatives, from textile designers to furniture, jewellery and typography artists. The letter ‘A’ will be represented by Vera Comploj, a New York based photographer and film maker, whose work has been exhibited as part of the Liverpool Biennial and at the Milk Gallery in New York. Ben Jones (‘V’) is a Manchester based illustrator whose darkly surreal work can be found in the recent Folio edition of Burgess’s The Clockwork Orange, and regularly in The New York Times. The first in a biannual series of events to be held under the Ride Your Pony moniker, the project is the work of Graphic Designer Marie Jones, who sent out tiles at random from A to Z. The exhibition kicks off with a free to attend launch party on Thursday and the exhibition runs all weekend.
