Port Street store and mini art gallery The Modernist is celebrating the centenary of all-things Bauhaus by hosting a new exhibition featuring work created by first year undergraduate students from Manchester School of Architecture. Dedicated to the history and aesthetic laid down by the Bauhaus school in Germany, this new exhibition runs from Thursday 16 – Saturday 25 January and includes a selection of models and drawings created as part of the students’ humanities studies. The exhibition features work dedicated to the iconic Walter Gropius-designed Bauhaus Master’s houses in Dessau, alongside creations paying tribute to London houses designed by architects who were associated with the Bauhaus school. Together, these young artists aim to showcase the development of Bauhaus architectural style whilst highlighting the international links between various groups and designers and their overall contribution to the formation of modernist architecture.
