The Lionel Dobie Project knows full well that most people will show up for an art exhibition only if there is free booze. After a while though, the vino boxes you get from Aldi just won’t cut it anymore. Even artists have their standards. With this in mind, LDP launched Art&CraftBeer and have subsequently produced many a fine ale to go with their exhibitions. Tonight’s features a specially brewed stout, made in collaboration with current artist in residency Toby Huddlestone. Launching his show, Auto-Archive, at the independent gallery just off Deansgate, the stout is there to compliment Huddlestone’s show, an instalment which seeks to shift the archive from a post-event medium, to a structure that predicts and predetermines the outcome of a project. A meta-exhibition taken from the concepts and correspondences between Toby and other curators, the organisers hope it will challenge what becomes of art when the show is over. The stout may help to get your head around it all.
