Fans of Ashton’s award-winning Indian restaurant Lily’s can now enjoy their vegetarian treats in Chorlton, as Lily’s Deli officially opens its doors on Manchester Road. Adopting a unit close by much-loved Chorton spots Unicorn Grocery and Barbakan Delicatessen, Lily’s Deli features many of the same dishes featured in their popular Ashton site – such as samosas, home-made curry and street-food chaats – albeit with a slightly smaller menu. A sweet counter will offer customers a range of colourful, hand-crafted desserts and hark back to the brand’s roots, having originally opened as a Indian sweet shop back in 1972.

Lily’s new Chorlton Deli is smaller than its Ashton-Under-Lyne counterpart, which debuted a little over a decade ago and went on to bag a variety of rave reviews from outlets like The Guardian, and a local gem mention in the Good Food Guide. While lockdown means that only six people can visit at any one time, visitors can buy dishes to take-away and when social-distancing restrictions lift, there will be space to eat-in and enjoy dishes on-site. A selection of thrifty meal deals are available – but if you visit this month, expect it to be busy! To find out more and peruse their full menu, visit the Lily’s website.
