The Bakers Vaults is a Grade II listed pub, built on the foundations of Stockport castle – and it’s about to reopen after a cool new refit. Jonny Booth, Jamie Langrish and Rupert Hill – the team behind the likes of The Parlour, Parlour Dogs, The Eagle Inn, The Castle Hotel and Gullivers – have joined forces with Robinsons Brewery to take on the venue, which closed in December 2013. They’ve used a stormy palette to add light and space and changed the wall paper, bar and carpets. Like The Eagle or The Castle, it’s very much a pub –  but one that’s the right side of cool. There is a new kitchen, serving an expanded take on the Parlour Dogs concept, currently on offer on Beech Road in Chorlton (see more). The new menu includes ‘puppy dogs’ for £4.25, which are half-size takes on their free-range gourmet hotdogs. Beer-wise, the venue has 10 hand pulls and will showcase ales from Robinsons and Titanic breweries.
