Sackville Gardens near the Village is set to play host to the Barker Baker Festival this weekend. As the name might suggest, this is a family-run festival with an emphasis on bread and confectionery. There will be a baking marquee with artisan produce, workshops and competitions. The event also sees the relaunch of The Village Market, which will feature local stallholders selling crafts, antiques and street food. Fallowfield-based NasiLemak will be on hand with Asian-fusion cuisine. The event kicks off at 10am with a jazz and coffee morning, followed by live music and a bar in the afternoon. The festival is in support of Mind and Christie’s, and aims to promote positive mental health and better understanding of mental health in the wider community.
