If you’re a lover of garlic and other things Gallic, you should head down to Altrincham next month for the area’s French Festival. The event begins on the Saturday before Bastille Day, with a bit of a do at Bowdon Rugby Club. There will be live entertainment, a selection of food stalls, and a fireworks finale. Visitors can bring a picnic, or those with premium tickets can enjoy a three course meal. The main celebration, a fête, takes place the next day at Stamford Park. This free daytime event will feature stalls of food, drink, giftware, perfumery, and beauty goods. A live concert will showcase both local and international musicians. A family-friendly affair, there will be activities for children, including French story telling. Cookery demonstrations and a vintage car show will also be taking place. You can even try your hand at boules and the ignoring of mime artists.
