Taking over the O2 Apollo Manchester for two nights this September, ‘King of baroque pop’ Rufus Wainwright joins the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra for an exhilarating interpretation of his formative paired albums, Want One and Want Two.
Performing in Manchester following a rapturously received premiere at the BBC Proms in 2023 before tours across Europe and the US, Wainwright brings new dimensions to his groundbreaking musical diptych with fresh arrangements showcasing both the artist’s singular showmanship and the full forces of the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, led by renowned conductor Lee Mills.
Billed as ‘an unforgettable night of spectacular symphonic pop’, Want Symphonic offers audiences the chance to celebrate Wainwright’s signature blend of alt-rock, classical, jazz, glossy pop and French chanson through some of his best works, presented with breathtaking scope and imagination.
