BCN:MCR brings a little bit of Spain to Manchester

Barcelona is a city that is well known for its style, and five of the city’s best design agencies are to showcase their unique, exciting and cutting-edge work to a wider audience in Manchester. A two-week exhibition at Northern Quarter venue 2022NQ – featuring the work of Hey Studio, Lamosca, Lo Siento, Mayuscula Brands and Mucho (pictured) – will offer the chance to soak up some Spanish style, and the designers behind the show will even be swapping Spain’s sunny climes for the more overcast skies of Manchester to present their work, influences, styles and thoughts on the design scenes in Barcelona and Spain at a sold-out talk (Fri 22 Feb). Each agency has also been asked to produce a creative response to one of the letters in the exhibition’s title, ‘BCN:MCR’, along with curator Dave Sedgwick, himself an enthusiast of Spanish design. The resulting piece of work, which is aimed at creating a link between the two cities, will go on display in nearby coffee shop Takk on Tariff Street.
