Band on the Wall is again hosting a weekend combining two of its specialist subjects, beer and blues. The former will fill the taps of 20 pumps across its bar, featuring ales produced by a range of sought-after local breweries. The latter will be the heartfelt tones of three of the tightest blues acts in the land ringing in your ears. Revving the two-dayer into gear on Friday night is Grammy-nominee James Hunter, who’s entertained audiences far and wide with his modern take on classic rhythm ‘n’ blues, both in live settings and on US TV talk shows such as Letterman, Leno and Conan. By Saturday early afternoon, south Manchester’s sequencer blues duo Walk will be peddling a steady tempo, simple hooks and unrelentingly catchy grooves, and that evening The Cadillac Kings will plug in and drive through their popular array of 40s- and 50s-influenced rootsy riffs.
