The Northern Quarter has never thirsted for a decent beer. Its many pubs, bars and clubs are fully stocked with a wide variety of tasty beverages from all over the globe. What it has lacked is a decent offy. Somewhere you can take these delicious ales and lagers home with you to enjoy where you control the music, food and décor. Jeremy Stull and Scott Davies aim to fill this gap with Beermoth (solid pun), a specialist beer shop located on Tib Street in what is probably best known as the original location of clothing shop Oi Polloi. Scott previously worked as the manager of The Knott, managing the Deansgate ale house during a time when they won back to back Local Pub of the Year Awards from CAMRA. Jeremy hails from Kansas City, Missouri and is probably best known on the Manchester bar scene as ‘that nice American bloke from Port Street Beer House’. He has also spent two years in Utrecht, Holland, where he gained an extensive knowledge of beer due to his enthusiasm for the subject and time spent exploring a variety of rich, brewing cultures. Some of the highlights of the beer count are a Brewfist & Beer Here collaboration named Caterpillar Pale Ale (5.8%), Bristol Beer Factory’s American style IPA Southville Hop (6.5%) and – one we’re particularly excited about – a Bourbon County Stout from Goose Island (15%!). As well as housing a phenomenal bottled beer selection Beermoth will be hosting events in the shop basement such as tutored tastings from Scott and Jeremy, brewers and other guests.

From Fri 1 Feb, 70 Tib Street, M4 1LG, open 4pm Fri, then times vary, http://www.facebook.com/TheBeermoth
