Renowned for his spectacular, award-winning Afro-futurist images, Benji Reid invites audiences into his creative process via a mesmerising theatre show that forms part of the Manchester International Festival (MIF) calendar.

A choreo-photolist, Reid combines photography, choreography and theatre to create wildly unique, striking and surreal images that spotlight his experiences as a Black man in the UK today.

Find Your Eyes offers audiences a rare glimpse into the making of this work, through a genre-bending performance in which the stage becomes the artist’s studio. Described as an ‘ode to reinvention’, Reid uses photography as a lifeline and anchor point to explore personal struggles.

Throughout the piece, which will be hosted at Manchester Academy, Reid will choreograph three performers, and will create live photographs in front of the audience, interlaced with recollections from his life, making for a bold but vulnerable insight into the creative process, and the personal inspirations behind it.

There will be six chances to see Find Your Eyes throughout July, with showings taking place on Wed 12 (7.30pm), Thu 13 (7.30pm), Fri 14 (7pm), Sat 15 (2.30pm & 7.30pm) and Sun 16 (2.30pm).

Standard tickets are priced at £26, while MIF’s low-cost ticket scheme offers a limited batch of £10 tickets. These affordable tickets are designed to make MIF events more accessible to more people across Greater Manchester.
