The stage production of international best-selling phenomenon The Girl on the Train comes to Lowry this February.
Adapted from Paula Hawkins’ acclaimed novel, which has sold more than 20 million copies worldwide, the gripping production broke box office records when it toured back in 2019.
The story follows Rachel Watson, who longing for a different life, escapes reality via the perfect couple she watches through the train window every day.
However, when Rachel learns that the woman has suddenly disappeared, she finds herself as both witness and suspect in one of the most talked-about mystery-thrillers of recent times.
For the first stint of this latest tour, including the dates at Lowry, Rachel will be played by 2020 I’m A Celebrity … Get Me Out Of Here winner, Giovanna Fletcher, whose theatrical credits include leading the recent UK tour of Peter James’ Wish You Were Dead, 2:22 A Ghost Story and Ivanov, both for the West End, as well as A Christmas Carol, Backbeat and The Christmasurus.
Giovanna says of her casting in the role: “I am delighted to be leading the company of The Girl on the Train as Rachel Watson at venues across the UK next year. Paula Hawkin’s psychological thriller has gripped millions of readers worldwide with its Hitchcockian tale of suspense and mystery. What better place than the theatre to take us through its voyeuristic window and deep into Rachel’s story?”
The completing company cast members are Daniel Burke as Kamal Abdic, Zena Carswell as Anna Watson, Samuel Collings as Scott Hipwell, Natalie Dunne as Megan Hipwell, Paul McEwan as DI Gaskill and Jason Merrells as Tom Watson (until May 29th).
