Taking place as part of Manchester’s much-vaunted Food and Drink Festival, the Big Indie Wine Fest is a wine event for ‘enthusiasts, connoisseurs and novices alike’. Three tasting sessions take place over the last weekend of MFDF in the gothic surroundings of Manchester Town Hall’s Great Hall (pictured), offering exclusive and exciting wines from around the globe, from some of the world’s best vineyards, presented by the region’s finest independent wine merchants. Merchants attending the event to give you insight and tasting notes will be representatives from Tour de Belfort – a family vineyard in South West France – plus Pacta Connect, presenting artisan Croatian wines, as well as local support from the friendly faces of Hanging ditch, Bakerie and Spirited Wines. An all-inclusive festival that is now in its fifth year, Big Wine Indie Fest is well worth sampling.

Fri 4 & Sat 5 Oct, The Great Hall, Manchester Town Hall, M2 5RT, Fri 5pm – 9pm, Sat 12pm – 4pm & 5pm – 9pm,  £11 per session, bigindiewinefest.eventbrite.com
