It’s been quite a year for Blur, with the release of their long-awaited album and the subsequent world tour. A new documentary entitled ‘Blur: New World Towers’, which focusses on this renaissance, will have a limited release in cinemas early next month. For one night only, three venues in our area will be screening the film: Cineworld in Didsbury, the Odeon at the Printworks, and the Vue Lowry. The movie follows the creation of the albumThe Magic Whip, which began as an impromptu recording session which, much to the surprise of those involved, mutated into the band’s first record in 12 years. We see the group’s creative process in the studio, and candid interviews reveal the often fractious dynamic between the four members. The centrepiece of the film is footage of the band’s homecoming concert at Hyde Park. You can bet these will be popular screenings, so be sure to book soon.
