The Northern Quarter will welcome a new chocolatier this month: Bonbon opens on John Street on Saturday 8 December – perfect timing for those of us with difficult-to-buy-for loved ones. Chocolate-maker Troffel (previously seen at Chorlton Street Market) promises artisan chocolates made by hand in Manchester, with flavours including raspberry beer, goats cheese and lemon curd, and kelpie seaweed ale. Not your regular fruit & nut or (shudder) Turkish so-called delight then. A lot of their ingredients, naturally, are organic, locally sourced and vegan (and probably ethical, sustainable and dolphin-friendly too). Plus they’ll be serving hot chocolate in flavours such as orange zest and sea salt caramel (be still my beating heart) while you browse. Trop bon(bon).
