One of the major coups of Manchester International Festival this year has been convincing The xx to play a series of incredibly tiny shows for just 60 people at a time. Naturally, the allocations for each of those shows sold out very quickly, leaving a fair few fans upset about missing a chance to see one of the world’s most inventive and pioneering bands play in the flesh in Manchester. In addition to the much-anticipated secret location shows, the band play a one-off gig at The Ritz to sate those unlucky souls who couldn’t get their hands one of the golden tickets.
