Fresh from the international film circuit, Lady Macbeth comes to HOME on Saturday 22 April. Director William Oldroyd is known for his theatre work and was placed on the Guardian’s ‘Rising Stars of 2017’ list, thanks to the snowballing success of this feature film debut. Moving Nikolai Leskov’s novel from Russia to north eastern England, the story follows a young woman (Florence Pugh, tragic star of Carol Morley’s The Falling) as she is sold into a passionless marriage with a middle-aged man. Expect maelstrom of murder and mayhem on a country estate. Oldroyd and Pugh will take part in a Q&A after this preview screening, in advance of its wider release on Friday 28 April.
