After selling out their show at Gorilla in early March, the London-based octet have just announced a gig at The Ritz. The sprawling collective, who once stretched between Japan, London, Australia and New Zealand, share a house-cum-studio in East London and it’s here where they created their kaleidoscopic ten-song debut album. The band’s size naturally aid their maximalist sound; a foundation of breezy pop hiked up by an army of fat and squelchy basslines, obscure field recordings like those of a cash register and mastication, inviting synths and a plethora of samples – all accompanied by Orono Noguchi’s aloof yet uplifting musings on pop culture. It’s hard to overstate how enjoyable this band’s instantly likeable, charming, idiosyncratic pop is. Don’t miss your chance to see them.
