Manchester Food and Drink Festival turns 20 this year, while locally founded restaurant group chain, Tampopo, mark 20 years since they launched Manchester’s first Pan Asian diner. In fact, MFDF and Tampopo have long been partners in crime with street food from the Asian food specialists often on sale in Albert Square. For this special banquet at Mayfield Depot, guests can experience a full-on culinary carnival, inspired by South-East Asian Full Moon Parties, with a cocktail bucket reception, street food and canapes. Bringing the birthday bumps will be notable Manchester names – the line-up is under wraps but watch out for Happy Monday’s Rowetta (pictured) and Hacienda DJ Graeme Park. While you’re enjoying a rare visit to the Mayfield building, you can also feast your eyes on Tampopo’s ‘Tampopo20’ exhibition of some of the city’s most famous faces – many of whom are Tampopo regulars.
