Ever since she released her 2009 debut, Entry, Lind May Han Oh has been a jazz musician to pay attention to. Born in Malaysia and raised in Perth, Oh is acclaimed for her trademark double bass sound and arrangements, both on her own acclaimed records and those by others; she has performed with various ensembles and worked with musicians including Pat Methany, Joe Lovano, and Vijay Iyer. After being awarded the prestigious Jerome Foundation Fellowship, Oh went on to release her second album, Initial Here (Greenleaf Records, 2012), which rightly made several end-of-year lists. 2017’s Walk Against Wind on Biophilia Records received similar acclaim, featuring on the 2017 NPR Music Jazz Critics Poll. Her latest record, 2019’s Aventurine, is her most ambitious yet, with experimental textures and dissonant tones, and this show at Band on the Wall is an unmissable chance to see Lind May Han Oh perform live.
