Recently rekindled US indie rockers American Football are set to include Manchester’s Albert Hall on a brief UK tour this autumn. It’s a spectacle to rival the Superbowl and marks a huge upscaling from their 2015 show at Gorilla, which sold out in no time. Having lain dormant for 17 years, the quartet’s signature sound bridging alt, math and US emo rock was revived in 2014 to an eruption of appreciation and in 2016 heralded an eponymous sophomore album via Wichita Recordings. It doubles a discography that for nearly two decades was consigned to music history as a cult favourite, but can now be experienced afresh by a rapidly swelling fanbase.
