Angel Haze at Gorilla

Making the headlines at the tail end of last year for leaking her own album when the label decided to push it back three months, Angel Haze wears her heart on her sleeve. Shrouded from music until the age of 16 by a strict religious community, she’s certainly making up for lost time with powerful, urgent lyricism that pertains a strong desire to educate and succour her audience. Open to a variety of producers and styles, her sound continues to develop its own identity (with an underpinning pop sensibility), but her distinctive voice prevails over all else. Catch her before you can’t fit her in a venue this size.
