Building on last year’s inaugural success, the Black Gold Arts Festival will be returning to Manchester this October. As a platform for established and emerging black, Asian, and minority ethnic (BAME) artists, the festival celebrates diversity of culture and aims to redefine the world of theatre for a 21st century context. Featuring artists from dance, theatre, and live and performance art, the festival promises an eclectic array of entertainment with critically-acclaimed pieces to newer theatrical works. It will take place at the Contact Theatre, an innovative charity based in Manchester that places young people and their talent at its core. Not only showcasing the current rich cultural tapestry of the North, the festival also looks to inspire future generations and will be offering paid opportunities to emerging black and diverse theatre directors, writers, dancers and choreographers.
