One of the jewels in Band on the Wall’s crown is going on a field trip with a stellar guest. Two of Manchester’s finest institutions are joining forces for one of the events of the summer, as Craig Charles’ Funk & Soul Club books in Alabama soul legend Candi Staton at the Old Granada Studios venue. The former Robot Wars presenter and current 6Music pop picker’s crate digging exploits will this time warm-up for the phenomenal voice behind ‘You’ve Got The Love’ and ‘Young Hearts Run Free’, combining for surely one of the picks of the Studios’ final programme before the St John’s area undergoes regeneration and the International Festival’s new Factory HQ takes its place.
