Originally best known as the lead singer of Catatonia, before going it solo and then moving onto a much loved slot as a 6 Music DJ, it’s hard to argue with the idea that Cerys Matthew is somewhat of a National Treasure as well as a multidisciplinary success. The Welsh singer is now adding another string to her bow as she releases Where The Wild Cooks Go. Having spent a lifetime surrounded by and loving food, Matthews’ new book brings together a childhood of foraging and baking before becoming a touring musician experiencing new delicacies and cuisines from around the world. In September, she heads to The Lowry to talk about the book and sharing ingredients and recipes as well as the music that has inspired her in her life. Alongside this there will be some poetry and songs from her travels around the world, as well as some of her favourite cocktails along the way. The event is a bringing together of Cerys Matthews’ most loved aspects of life and the way food, music, drink, and stories so often compliment each other and work together.
