Five piece groove addicts Championlover release their debut LP, Make Out, at the end of the month on Sheffield’s The Audacious Art Experiment label (home to 6 Music faves like Cowtown and Blood Sport). And you can celebrate the occasion with a big knees up at Soup. The band previously won over Manchester in slots with the likes of psych barons, The Holydrug Couple. With killer support from Aldous RH and Horrid, this is a chance to soak up their repetitive urban rhythms and dub-processed noisescapes in pole position. Looped vocals, glassy guitar layers, propulsive basslines, soca-soaked drumming play their parts, with influences that include Faust, A Certain Ratio, PiL and Sly. Hot stuff.
