The UK Children’s Laureate, Lauren Child, is coming to The Whitworth in early October to introduce her latest book. Multi award-winner Lauren is one of the country’s most highly-regarded and biggest-selling writers and illustrators for kids. She is possibly best known as the creator of ‘Charlie & Lola’ and the ‘Ruby Redfort’ detective books. However, her newest story, which will be released soon, features another of her hit characters: Hubert Horatio, the millionaire child genius. Titled ‘How to Raise Your Grownups’, it centres on the unruly adults that Hubert believes have to be steered through life. In her role as Laureate, she will also be talking more generally about the magic of books, and hoping to inspire kids to read and write more. This event is presented in partnership with Manchester Children’s Book Festival. It is suitable for ages seven and above.
